The Ice Cream Lab is a delicious experiment that was created by two ice-cream loving childhood friends. As much as they loved eating ice cream, they didn’t like all the extra stuff that came with it. They decided to reinvent the ice cream making process to make it healthier. By only using the freshest and most natural ingredients, they took away the artificial flavors and preservatives without sacrificing taste. Their Beverly Hills headquarters was the first location that opened up in March 2013. Last week they opened up their newest location in Pasadena, we were lucky enough to check out their grand opening last week and experience the liquid nitrogen process for ourselves.
When you get to the Ice Cream Lab, you pick a flavor of your choice and a technician will create it in front of you. They mix the ingredients and it will instantly freeze with a blast of nitrogen. We tried four flavors and each of them took around two minutes to prepare. It was such a cool process to watch as they poured fresh ingredients in and the liquid nitrogen transformed into creamy, delicious ice cream. Our favorites were the Salt Lick Crunch, Blue Velvet and the Oreo.
The instant freeze technique ensures the tastiest, freshest ice cream available. Every week they create new flavors for you to enjoy. Next time we’ll have to try the strawberry basil… Yum!
The Ice Cream Lab also caters to parties and specials events. They have portable machines specifically designed to bring to events and they will work with you to create a special flavor. Their Beverly Hills location is also a great place to host birthdays and parties as it holds up to 30 people.
